Title: MANTRA PRAYER SEED
Year: 2026
Location: Cairo and Luxor, Egypt
Medium: Video art and design
MANTRA PRAYER SEED is a visual meditation that explores personal signifying processes in a land of ancient spaces, symbols, and narratives, using material and bodily mantras. Moving through temples, pyramids, tombs, and urban spaces, these mantras manifest as talismans and wearable pieces that travel from the body and into the spaces that surround it, interconnecting them to and sowing intentions of transmutation across time.
Special thanks:
This piece is a labor of love crafted with those who are closest to me. My mother, who beautifully handmade arm and leg extensions, chord-like instruments through which I could speak with space as Seshat would. It is also a seed upon visiting my love’s homeland for the first time, and the first artistic piece we have ever collaborated on. This piece was recorded with an old camcorder my parents acquired when I was but a baby, now held in adult hands with overgrown eyes. Thank you dad for helping me bring her back to life.
Thank you all for your ever-present grace, trust, and passion. My mythmaking is made all the more expansive thanks to you.
